About Chromoforge
Chromoforge helps designers and developers turn a base color or a local image into useful palette values. The interactive tools are free to use without an account.
How colors are generated
Harmonies use hue relationships in HSL. Shade scales adjust lightness and chroma in OKLCH, then convert to sRGB HEX values. Colors outside the sRGB gamut are clipped, so a scale is a starting point for design rather than a guarantee of equal visual steps. The original color is marked at its nearest shade stop.
What the checks mean
Contrast ratios use the WCAG 2.x relative-luminance formula for opaque sRGB colors. Check the text and background you will actually use; transparency, photos and gradients need separate evaluation. The palette usability score is a heuristic, not an accessibility certificate. Color vision previews are approximations.
Your files and saved work
Image pixels are processed on your device. Saved palettes and preferences stay in this browser, without account sync. Use a JSON backup before clearing browser storage. See the privacy page for optional analytics and the independent Cloudflare counter.
Maintenance and feedback
